Relieve Your Back Pain with a Uratex Mattress

We’ve all experienced back pain — whether caused by playing sports, sitting too long at work, or unknown causes, all of us can agree that back pains are certainly a pain! Back pains may be concentrated on a particular area such as the lower back, but may also radiate to other parts of your body like your shoulders and nape. Some back pains are dull, blunt aches, while others may make you feel like you’re being pierced. The most frequent cause of back pain is the inflammation of the muscles or joints, but it may also originate from our nerves, bones, or any other structure in our dorsal area.

Backaches make even the simplest of activities hard, and we can’t focus and function as well as we’d like to. The good news is that most back pains are not severe, and may be treated at home. The usual remedies include a back massage, stretching exercises, or the use of painkillers. Sometimes even your choice of bed mattress will help relieve and more importantly, prevent your back pains.

Uratex offers a wide variety of mattress styles from which you could choose one that suits your taste and needs. You could opt for innerspring, polyfoam, latex, or specialty mattresses, each of which has different characteristics—you just have to find out which one suits you perfectly.

If you’re looking for durability and sturdiness, or if your back needs immovable but comfortable support, innerspring mattresses are for you. The sturdy springs are more than enough to sustain your weight while giving you comfortable security. The only drawback of innerspring mattresses is that the metal springs are prone to wear and tear, and the mattress needs flipping over every once in a while in order to even out the distortions.

The great news is that Uratex has the Premium Touch Viscoluxe Memory Mattress. It combines the sturdy support of a pocket spring system with comfy, body-molding memory foam.

Uratex also offers durable, highly resilient and long-lasting latex foam mattresses . These mattresses offer rigid cushions, but aren’t as sturdy as innerspring mattresses. Their exteriors are made of latex, making them durable albeit soft. This is perfect if you want full support without sacrificing coziness. Uratex’s rubber mattresses have a general “bouncy” feeling.

Comfort Zone Latex Plus is made of highly resilient 5-zone latex foam. It's highly recommended for people who suffer from back pains, asthma and other allergies.

Polyfoam mattresses provide undeniable comfort and softness. Foam mattresses create an “enveloping” effect, wherein the material is so soft it practically follows the contours of your whole body. This mattress is the right one for you if you’re searching for unparalleled comfort and coziness. This is also perfect for some types of back pains, where the soft and fluffy material soothes and relaxes tight muscles. Uratex also offers a range of memory foam beds, which make use of materials that practically flow back to their original shape when you ease the pressure on it.

Nuovoluxe® Foam provides up to 25% more support than conventional foams so it helps in achieving proper spinal alignment.

Uratex also has mattresses specially designed for orthopedic use. These mattresses are made of specialty foam and are designed to help people with back pain problems. The Uratex Permahard Mattress is made of foam that is 20% harder than Uratex Foam. Permahard is what many doctors recommend for people with back problems.

The medical-grade Orthocare mattress has different firmness levels for different parts of the body - this helps ensure proper spine alignment and support.

Go check out the full range of Uratex mattresses to see which one suits your needs. Rest assured that these mattresses will help relieve your back pains and aches. Just remember to pair your Uratex mattress with a healthy lifestyle as well – that means having a balanced diet, exercising regularly, maintaining a proper posture, and using ergonomic desks and chairs at work/school. And if you are still experiencing extreme or chronic back pains in spite of this, it’s best to consult a professional health practitioner.

The Ultimate Mattress for Sleepovers

June is near but summer time isn’t over just yet! School-goers still have the chance to bond with their friends, and what better way to do that than through a sleepover or a slumber party. There’s nothing compared to the joy of being able to invade the house of a good friend, along with several others, just so that you’d joke around, watch movies, and certainly sleep for less than 8 hours. Ironically, that’s not enough sleep nor slumber for a sleepover or a slumber party.

No sleepover would be complete without a comfortable mattress like the Uratex Siesta Mattress

So many people, so few beds!

In hosting a sleepover, you need lots of food, drinks, and of course, extra mattresses. Guests can sleep on the couch or in guest rooms, but wouldn’t it be more fun if everyone was together in the same room? You might think of laying down thick blankets and maybe some comforters and such on the floor to be able to accommodate more people, but that just wouldn’t be comfortable. The best thing to have is a set of spare mattresses. You might be thinking that mattresses are too big to store and too costly to buy, but believe me, Uratex mattresses are a worthwhile investment.  And because it’s not like you have sleepovers every weekend, you might as well make the event as comfortable as possible by having quality mattresses.

Uratex provides you the ultimate mattress for sleepovers

The Uratex Fold-A-Mattress is a fun, space-saving necessity for your sleepovers!

Now, as for space, storage, and cost, a mattress does not have to be bulky nor expensive to be comfortable! I’ve shown you this plenty of times in previous articles. Uratex foam mattresses are lightweight, comfortable, and long-lasting. Their futon mattresses are especially easy to store and are not only relatively comfortable, but absolutely are. You can not only store it easily, but you can also fold and unfold it efficiently. This is great because it’s most important to tidy up after the sleepover. Be it your mom, or your own obsessive compulsion to keep things tidy, in the end, you know you gotta keep things clean. Having a light extra foam mattress helps a great deal in sleepovers. Your guests will be thankful for it, and if you have futon mattresses, you will also be grateful for its ability to be stored so easily.

The Temptation to Sleep

When we hear the word “temptation”, our first reaction would always be “stay out of it.” Whether it be linked to an object, food, or an activity, the word temptation brings about a negative connotation. One thing that we’ve experienced numerous times is the temptation to sleep — tempted to sleep in class, tempted to sleep at work, tempted to sleep while in church — I’m sure we’ve all experienced this at some point in our lives.

It is so tempting to climb into bed and have a relaxing sleep like this adorable puppy

Our natural reaction for temptations such as these would be to stay awake and fight the urge to sleep — mainly because it’s embarrassing to the people around you. True enough, our social culture dictates that it’s bad to go to sleep in such scenarios. But if you ask me, if there’s one temptation that you can give in to (without actually sinning), it’s giving in to the temptation of sleeping.

Is it okay to give in?

When you’re doing your homework and in the middle of it you suddenly feel sleepy, it’s actually a smarter decision to go to sleep and finish it the next day instead. Why? Dozing off is actually your body’s alarm system, telling you that you’re already not performing at an optimum level and that your body needs to rest. At this point, your body will already start considering the option of going to sleep; or at the very least, take a power nap. When you’ve come to this point, it’s time for you to take a rest and let your body restore and rejuvenate.

What does your body need?

The time you need to restore your body is another topic altogether and there are several factors that would come in. One, you have to consider the amount of activity you did earlier. When you just went through a full marathon run, obviously you need more time to rest than someone who spent the day watching television. Another factor would be the comfort of your sleeping experience. The bed you use does play a big factor in the recovery time of your body. When you use a Uratex mattress, memory topper, and pillows, you can be sure that you’ll have a very comfortable sleeping experience — this means less tossing and turning, less chance of interrupted sleep, and an overall more relaxing sleep –exactly what your body needs.

Sometimes, the temptation to sleep will come in ways we don’t expect. In such cases, listen to your body and consider giving your body the rest that it is craving for.

Camp Outdoors And Still Be Comfortable

My relatives and I went camping near a lake last weekend and it was a whole a lot of fun! We set out with tents around a rustic camping area and being surrounded by nothing but greenery and fresh air really helped me appreciate nature. What I’d truly like to highlight though, is how we spent the night – no television, no air condition, and certainly no beds.

Take a break from the hustle and bustle of the urban jungle

Sleep under the stars

With the stars shining brightly in the night sky, we applied mosquito repellent lotion and lit lanterns around the camping area. Of course, some of us laid down the classic Filipino banig inside the tents, while others laid down simple comforters to make sleeping more comfortable than just literally resting on the ground. But from the intense back pain that I experienced upon waking up, I now know that neither a straw mat nor a simple comforter would do the trick when you’re camping outdoors. No matter how thick your blanket is, the tough soil beneath you and not to mention those stones and twigs that you forgot to clear before setting up your tent will literally give you a hard time.

Out of your comfort zone

Of course, some people would say that the whole point of camping is to remove you from your comfort zone and experience the raw beauty of nature – untouched, unpredictable, and possibly, the un-matted ground? Well if they really want to lick the face of unbridled nature (figuratively, of course) they might as well not use a tent and just venture into the jungle, Bear Grylls-style. But if you’re someone who wants to appreciate nature but isn’t really the type to go on a jungle survival trip, who says that you can’t enjoy nature and be comfortable at the same time? Camping outdoors and having a relaxing sleep is certainly possible!

The Uratex Camper Mat

Who says you can't sleep under the stars and still be comfortable?

Remember those ineffective blankets, banigs, and comforters that my family and I used when we went camping? Well, I should have known better and brought a Uratex Camper Mat to our trip. It’s lightweight, durable, and like all Uratex products, made of the finest quality. Also, it is very convenient to bring along camping trips as it is easy to roll up and there are built-in straps so that you can strap it into place. Most people can’t imagine going without the luxuries of modern living, but with the Uratex Camper Mat, you can go and appreciate the beauty of nature without sacrificing the comfort of a high-quality mattress.

Uratex Pillows: Shapes and Types

Pillows are one of the most essential factors for a comfortable sleep. While one pillow should be enough to provide a refreshing sleep, some people prefer to have more than one for various reasons. Personally, I prefer to have at least two pillows – one for the head and the other to hug when I go to sleep. With the various preferences that people want, Uratex has come up with different pillow types to match your preferences.

  • Head pillow – the most common type of pillow, we want one that provides good support for our head so we won’t wake up with a bad headache or neck pain. Uratex offers various sizes and thickness that match your personal preference.
  • Body pillow – for those who want the hotdog-type of pillow or one which you can just hug all night, this is the pillow for you. When you’re sleeping, you want to make it as comfortable as possible and if body pillows help you achieve that comfort, then by all means, go ahead and buy one.

Uratex 'Gentle' head pillow and 'Yakap' body pillow offer superb support and comfort for a good night's sleep.

  • Senso memory pillow – this type of pillow is designed to conform to the actual shape of your body which provides more support and stress relief for your body compared to feather pillows.
  • Contour pillow – for those having problems with their back, the Uratex contour pillow is just perfect for your spine. Its design is similar to those used in hospitals and medical centers that help relieve spinal problems

Uratex 'Senso Memory' and 'Contour Plus' pillows are specially designed to provide extreme comfort and pressure relief.

Uratex not only offers pillows that provide great support and comfort, but also gives you options to match your personal needs and preferences. What’s your favorite type of pillow? :)

Introducing the Uratex Mattress with Banig

Have you ever wanted to experience comfort and culture at the same time? Well if you’re from the Philippines, I’m sure you know what a banig is. A banig is a handwoven mat made of buri or dried palm tree leaves, usually used for sleeping and sitting. It has the advantage of being cool to the feel  as heat does not accumulate in the mat — very appropriate for a tropical country such as ours, especially during summertime.

Ingenious and Indigenous

Combining the coolness of the banig with the support and durability of the modern mattress, Uratex now offers consumers the Uratex Mattress with Banig. The name is pretty much self-explanatory, but I’m sure there’s some disbelief in how something as modern as a polyfoam mattress can co-exist as a single product with the outdated banig. Well, you better believe it, because Uratex has developed this very ingenious product to suit the needs of people living in tropical countries such as ours.

To make the mattress-banig bed possible, one side is quilted with the classic mattress cover, and the other side has a banig made from durable woven plastic material. It’s your choice to use the banig side for those hot summer nights or the quilted side when the weather is cool.

Uratex Mattress with Banig - use the quilted side when the weather is cool and the banig side during hot nights

Along with the unique and comfortable properties of polyfoam, the banig option provides a different level of comfort, style, and coolness. The Uratex Mattress with Banig just goes to show that with innovation and creativity, we can look to the past for solutions to today’s problems and even go one step further by integrating it to modern trends.

Mattress Durability

Now, I know I’ve shown you a brief glimpse of how long a mattress usually lasts in a previous article, and how much of its lifespan is reduced by jumping on it. But this article is to show you how durable different types of mattresses, especially Uratex mattresses, are.

Innerspring mattress

The usual mattress is the outdated innerspring mattress which has a very high tendency of sagging and permanently sinking at the center where you usually sleep on. The reason is because spring is made of metal, and although the metal is formed to be in the shape of a spring, metal is still pliable and will slowly allow its malleability to reduce the efficiency of its shape as a spring. An innerspring mattress lasts around 7 years and requires good care such as flipping it every couple of months.

Foam mattress

Polyfoam mattresses are especially durable because of the tiny air bubbles in between its very foam which causes the foam to spring back every time. But in memory foam mattresses, the uniqueness of its high density and high level of viscosity makes it conform to the body better than the regular polyfoam mattress. Polyfoam and memory foam mattresses last three times longer than the usual innerspring mattress. They’re so durable you don’t even have to flip them for the sake of making them last longer. A high-quality Uratex mattress can last well over a decade and even more depending on how much more you take care of your mattress.

Rubber mattress

But you know what else lasts as long as polyfoam and memory foam mattress? Rubber or latex mattresses. They last around as long as polyfoam and memory foam mattresses, but they’re quite different. If you’re probably tired of the “conforming-to-your-shape” feeling of memory foam mattresses, maybe the rubber or latex mattress is for you. The best way I could describe it is in one word: support. Rubber foam mattresses last longer than innerspring mattresses at about well over a decade. The Uratex US Rubber Mattress has a bouncy feel and is made of resilient foam. It also has a 10-year warranty, and from that guarantee, you can easily say that it’s made to last.

You are assured of high quality and durability with Uratex US Rubber Mattress

The Best Combination: Innerspring Mattress and Memory Foam Mattress

So there you are, trying to pick what kind of mattress to buy because your innerspring mattress finally gave way. Well first of all, it was a bad idea to own an innerspring mattress that’s only an innerspring mattress. I have to admit, you should’ve gotten yourself a foam mattress or a combination of both instead. Secondly, since you’re thinking of getting a new mattress, I want to tell you about memory foam and how it differs from an ordinary polyfoam mattress.

Foam, foam, and more foam

Let’s have a mental recap of foam. I’m pretty sure you’ve seen at least one kind of it. It’s usually used in padding seats, couches, and is used to fill sofabeds, pillows, and other soft things. Now, I’m talking about ordinary foam made of polyurethane, or simply, polyfoam. Have you ever slept on an ordinary foam mattress? Well, it’s certainly comfortable to sleep on and it gives you that feeling of coolness beneath your body when you sleep because of those tiny air pockets that make foam what it is. I admit, it’s not sturdy, and may not give you enough support like an innerspring mattress, but heck, it’s much comfortable.

What’s good about foam is that there’s such a thing I call movement isolation. If you’re on an innerspring mattress, I reckon that a slight movement made by the person sleeping next to you would wake you up. But if you’re on a foam mattress, you’d be less likely disturbed by the other person’s movements during the night.

All about memory foam mattresses

Now, I want to introduce you to the memory foam mattress. You may have heard of it before, and maybe until now, you don’t know what it really is. You may have noticed that “memory foam mattress” has the same word “foam” in it as the previously discussed, “foam mattress.” Let me point out some similarities. Both are made of polyurethane. Both are comfortable to sleep in, and both have what I call movement isolation.

However, a memory foam mattress is more comfortable to sleep in. Aside from polyurethane, more components have been added to the memory foam mattress to give it more viscosity and density. This allows a memory foam mattress to have more support than an ordinary foam mattress. Viscosity also allows the person to have the feeling of weightlessness as the memory foam conforms to the body’s contours and relieves pressure points.

Get a refreshing, good night's sleep with the Uratex Premium Touch Viscoluxe Memory Mattress - offering you the best combination of an innerspring mattress and a memory foam mattress.

The best mattresss combination

Now, a memory foam mattress in itself is not sufficient in terms of support. If a mattress is made of pure memory foam, you’d probably slowly sink to the bottom and well, you get the picture. That’s why I’m telling you, at least in my opinion, that the best kind of mattress is a combination of an innerspring mattress with a pocket spring system and a memory foam mattress. Why? The body-conforming properties of memory foam ensures comfort while its property of density combined with an innerspring mattress’ support is a perfect union into slumberland. Uratex’s Premium Touch Viscoluxe Memory Mattress is certainly the ultimate marriage of comfort and health. What more can you ask for?

Bed Myths: One-Size-Fits-All Bed

There are a lot of products today with the tag-line, “one size fits all”. They range from caps, clothes, sporting equipments, and even home furniture. When it comes to beds, however, there is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all bed. Even if you intend to use it just for yourself, size does matter. As you would know, there are three dimensions to consider: the height, the length, and the width. Let me discuss the importance of the three dimensions.

Uratex offers numerous mattress options on design, type and size to fit your needs and lifestyle.

  • Height – The thickness of the mattress becomes all the more important if you’re the person who sleeps on the floor with the mattress. I recently moved to a condo and I currently sleep on the floor with my Uratex mattress while I look for a good bed frame. I bought a mattress that’s six-inch thick because I don’t want the coolness of the floor to affect my body temperature especially during dawn. I had a choice between a four-inch thickness and a six-inch thickness when I was buying my mattress and I decided to go for the thicker one because of the support. The price difference isn’t that big between the two. When you already have a bed frame, a four-inch mattress would already suffice. It’s thick enough to provide excellent support and it’s lighter than the six-inch mattress.
  • Length – Obviously, there’s no such thing as a one-size-fits-all when there are people growing only up to 5 feet and some people growing up to 7 feet. What’s important with length is not to have a length that’s only exactly as long as your height. Always have some extra length even if you’re not the person who keeps on moving around. For a good estimate, your bed length should be a few inches longer than your height with your hands stretched up in the sky while you’re in tip-toe position.
  • Width – The width would really matter if you’re the type of person who tosses and turns a lot while sleeping. I’m a person who moves a lot that’s why the bed I bought has a length that’s about longer than my arm’s reach in a horizontal position. Uratex has a lot of options when it comes to bed sizes.

Remember, you’re going to spend about 8 hours a day on that bed – that’s roughly the same number of hours that you spend working, so make sure to invest in a bed that not only fits your lifestyle by being hypoallergenic or therapeutic, but also literally fits you.
